Experimental and Theoretical Study on Operation Characteristics of an Oscillating Heat Pipe

An oscillating heat pipe (OHP) is an effective transfer device for the thermal management of electronic devices. However, mechanism OHP was not fully understood due to its complicated operation characteristics. In this paper, performance experimentally studied. The condensation and evaporation temperature variations were monitored under different inputs then used evaluate system operating Thermal resistance as a key parameter system. results indicated that input increased from 25 100 W, average decreased while stable evaporating condensing temperatures increased. equivalent coefficient derived theoretically. It showed reciprocal radial with increasing liquid film thickness. Based on result, empirical correlation proposed This validated using both experimental data provided in study collected open literature. comparison could reasonably predict filling ratios inputs.
